The main objective of the project is to calculate the boundary capacity of the containment of WWER-1000 Units and to assess the structure engineering safety under design and beyond design internal accidents leading to containment pressure and temperature increase.
For the purposes of the project, the following activities have been carried out:
- Field and laboratory examinations of the material characteristics;
- Detailed calculation model development and its verification by the structure monitoring system;
- Carrying out series of non-linear analyses to define the boundary capacity for internal pressure and temperature, to define the main mechanisms of rupture and safety factors for the different emergency scenarios.
